Charity Work & Giving: Making Every Event Count

A Personal Commitment from the Owners

The decision to donate 10% of every booking to charitable causes comes from the heart. As the owners of Histon Manor, we have always believed that every event should create value not just for guests, but for the wider community.

We wanted to ensure that every event contributes to something meaningful. This personal commitment led to the launch of our 10% Giving Ethos in 2026, building on our fundraising since 2019.

Histon Manor has now raised £48,000 for charities since we moved in in 2008.

By embedding this philosophy into the heart of the Manor, wehope every guest feels that their event is part of a wider story of generosity, community, and lasting impact.

Our Approach to Giving

Our giving model is simple, transparent, and purposeful:

  • 10% of every booking goes directly to charity, making your event part of a wider mission for good.

  • In November each year we carefully select a charity for our ‘Histon Manor Charity of the Year’ after several meetings and visits to ensure our chosen charity is a strong, robust and efficient charity with the maximum amount of funds raised going directly the charity’s goal and not lost in unquantifiable overheads.

  • Previous charities we have fundraised for include EACH (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices) and Break Charity, and for 2026, we are proudly supporting the Cambridge Acorn Project and have raised £19,000.00 in 2026 to date from both our donations and our charity events..

  • We have decided to continue supporting the Cambridge Acorn Project for a second year in 2027.

By embedding this giving ethos into the heart of our venue, we create a tangible, trust-building point of difference. Histon Manor is not just a venue—it is a space where every celebration contributes to positive change.

Highlighting Our Community Impact

Beyond charitable donations, Histon Manor actively engages with the local community through charity open days and events. This is another key part of our fundraising for our chosen charity with 100% of profits from these events going directly to the charity. Histon Manor takes no income from any of these events. Highlights from 2027 include:

  • Snowdrop Open Day: February 2027 An annual event inviting visitors to enjoy the beauty of our gardens in early spring with its carpets of snowdrops.

  • Outdoor Summer Sounds Concert: May 2027

  • Cambridgeshire Plein Air Artist of the Year Art Competition: June 2027

  • Dahlia and Village Show: September 2027.

These events allow the community to experience our historic manor in a meaningful way, creating shared memories while reinforcing our commitment to giving back.

Join Us in Giving Back and become a Match Funding Partner in 2027

We invite you to become part of our 10% Giving Ethos in 2027 or become a match funding partner. In 2027 we will be doubling down for a second year to support the Cambridge Acorn Project instead of changing our charity. Histon Manor is calling on businesses to help double the impact of its community fundraising in 2027. Cambridge Acorn Project provides long-term therapeutic, educational and practical support to children and families across Cambridgeshire, including those affected by trauma, poor mental health and financial hardship.

Businesses across Cambridgeshire and beyond are invited to pledge between £50 and £3,500 to match community donations at a chosen event. Each business can agree its maximum contribution in advance, helping local children and families affected by trauma, poor mental health, abuse and financial hardship. The invitation is open to everyone from sole traders and small companies, who may find it difficult to organise charity fundraising themselves, to larger companies looking for opportunities to support their community and involve their staff. Histon Manor will organise the events and bring together volunteers and visitors; businesses provide the matching funds, with opportunities for their teams to volunteer too.
