Manor House available for Shoots and Film Location in Cambridgeshire

  • Formal historic gardens

The formal gardens, backed by a ‘wobbly’ sculpted yew hedge date back to the 1900s. They centre around the large octagonal pond and fountain. In spring beds are full of white daffodils, whilst throughout the summer the roses, lavender and salvias fill the garden with colour.

A secret garden surrounded by yew and a landscaped walled garden with a gate into the ancient churchyard offer alternative garden settings for filming.

  • 11 acres of lawns, gardens and woodlands

The grounds incorporate large areas of lawn directly in front of the house which slope gently down to the lower field.

A large flat lawned area used as a croquet lawn or tennis court in the 1930s is backed by a pavilion.

To the rear of the grounds is a large wooded area which leads to a victorian folly. A second field with abandoned stables offer a softer less landscaped setting.

  • A wooded island surrounded by a moat

The Island is beautifully hidden from view of the village by trees and extends 90m x 50m The surrounding moat is 10m wide and best used as a backdrop outside of the summer months when the water is at its highest.

In late winter, the banks and the island are crisp white from the carpets of naturalised snowdrops, whilst in summer the dappled shade of the trees offer a darker and more mysterious energy.

  • Interiors with a difference

The interiors offer an eclectic mix of unique items, often mixing antiques with the simple lines of modern furniture. Each room is styled using the period backdrop as the basic canvas.

Modern artwork adds drama to the walls throughout, whilst large rugs add softness to the well worn stone floors in the hallway. Birds of paradise fly up the walls as the bold wallpaper accentuates the height and curves of the main staircase.

  • Georgian Grandeur with C21st Vibes

The ornate ceilings of the kitchen are juxtaposed with fresh modern lighting. The William Morris wallpaper in the sitting room sits proudly against a 1970s G Plan sideboard. The modern curved sofa in the drawing room stands out against the harsher lines of the drawing room’s panelled walls.

Each room offers something unexpected, often bringing a smile to your lips.

  • 7500 square ft of rooms to choose from

The house offers a vast array of both Georgian and Victorian rooms over two floors. Three staircases join the floors including a steep narrow servant staircase to the rear. A large balcony extends out from the dressing room offering views over the formal gardens and beyond.

Extensive outbuildings include garages, a large victorian greenhouse, pavilion and numerous potting sheds. A gate lodge sits at the bottom of the drive.
